In July we entered the Cubbington wild pear tree in the Woodland Trust’s “Tree of the Year” contest. Every year, entries are submitted for trees in each country of the UK and these are whittled down to a shortlist of ten. We are delighted to announce that our champion pear tree is among the ten chosen. Here’s a recent photo of the tree taken by Frances Wilmot (©).
It will now go forward to the public on-line vote, which went live yesterday. Closing date is midnight on October 11th.
You can vote here http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/tree-of-the-year/england/ . Please vote and pass this on to friends and family.
No sooner had our press release gone out than we were contacted by BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, following which chairman Peter Delow recorded an interview which was broadcast on Trish Adudu’s programme yesterday afternoon. You can listen to it here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p031szgs#play at about 2hrs 44mins in.
