HS2 Public Consultation on Environmental Impact Statement: Cubbington Event 28 May 2013

7 May 2013 By Rosemary Guiot

An
opportunity to have your say on the fate of our countryside

Cubbington and Offchurch Action Groups against HS2 will be close by  on Tuesday May 28th at the Public Information and Consultation event to be held by HS2 Ltd at Cubbington village hall in Broadway, from 12 noon to 8pm.  There will be a display by HS2 Ltd engineers and environmentalists on the railway’s predicted impact on Cubbington, Offchurch and other local areas, including the ancient and irreplaceable South Cubbington Wood ancient woodland and the Leam valley. The Consultation Response forms on the draft Environmental Statement need to be submitted by July 11th. For more information on the HS2 route see – www.hs2.org.uk

Local residents and everyone interested in preserving our peaceful natural environment should see these latest HS2 proposals which Cubbington and Offchurch Action groups consider to be highly unsatisfactory.  They do not include any of the mitigation measures which have been submitted by the groups.

The two groups offer advice on responding to ensure our views are heard. Cubbington group will also hold a public meeting on Wed June 5th at Cubbington village hall at 7.30pm and an Information event with refreshments on Saturday 15 June at Cubbington Methodist Church Hall in Queen St, 2.30 – 4pm.  Offchurch will have a drop-in session in their village hall on Sunday 16 June, 4.30 – 6.30.  Advice on responding to the consultation will also be on Offchurch website   http://www.offchurch.org.uk or contact Cubbington Action Group chairman Peter Delow on 01926 336838.

About Cubbington Action Group

We are an association of the residents of Cubbington and its environs, formed in response to the proposals to build and operate HS2, a high-speed train link, through some of Warwickshire’s most beautiful countryside. The noise, visual impact and disruption will devastate our lives, the environment and wildlife. Find out more... NEW
