On Tuesday 7th July, an estimated 100 demonstrators marched through Cubbington village and along diverted footpaths to protest against HS2 and also to demonstrate support for Chris Packham whose appeal for a judicial review of HS2 was heard on Wednesday 8th. The march started at the church with speeches and poems and proceeded, with social distancing, along the village street, up Windmill Hill and along Rugby Road to the HS2 compound where protestors listened to further speeches and songs. They then took to the footpaths, crossing to the Avon Way and finally picnicking by the river. A small breakaway group ran through the HS2 compound and went into the wood: we understand they came straight out the other side, though this has not been confirmed.
The organiser, Matt Bishop, was interviewed on the morning of the event on BBC CWR radio, but TV coverage was confined to ITV.
