Footpath closure

8 May 2021 By Rosemary Guiot

Closure – W129d and W130 Public Right of Way | High Speed 2 (hs2.org.uk)

This notice has been posted by contractors Balfour Beatty Vinci, who are responsible for construction works in our area and are taking over from Laing Murphy, the “early works” contractor.

Nb The two closures notified have already been closed for a year or so.  What BBV have omitted from the map is the diversion footpath put in by LM, which took us across the field at the top of Mill Lane and the next field down to rejoin the normal footpath to the river (PROW129d).  They intend to shut this diversion, blocking access from Cubbington to the River Leam, a much-loved walk for local people.

According to the notice, this is from 4th May 2021 for 3 years.  We do not believe a 3 year closure is necessary or acceptable.  We have complained to HS2 and await a sensible response. The more people who complain, the better.  If no one complains, they will assume no one is concerned.

Please phone the Helpdesk or email, making sure to state clearly that your communication is a complaint.
