The English Tree of the Year trophy won in 2015 by the Cubbington Pear tree was presented on January 13th by Chris Hickman of the Woodland Trust to Theresa Saul, Chair of Cubbington Parish Council, and Peter Delow.
We were delighted with the trophy, a most appropriate award for our tree. It will remain in Cubbington and is currently touring schools and groups in the parish to allow as many people as possible to see it. The trophy was handmade in Scotland: the disc is made of oak, the base is from an elm which had to be felled due to Dutch Elm disease and there is a plaque naming the tree and Peter as proposer.
